Benefits of Registering

Candidates

1. Going to a traditional job fair takes quite some time. You have to commute to the location, spend the better part of your day waiting in line to talk to a prospective boss, and then travel back home again. But with a virtual job fair, you can pop in and out as need be, without having to calculate extra commuting time.
2. Your online chat session with an Employer can easily become a pre-screening interview or the first step to a second in-person interview.
3.  You don’t have to deal with large crowds of attendees.
4. In a short period of time, you can interact with far more employers than you could at a traditional job fair.
5. The pool of potential employers is vastly larger than a traditional job fair that tends to cater to local companies.
6. The virtual job fair can potentially host employers from other cities, provinces or even countries.

Don’t let the fact that don’t have to travel mean you don’t have to prepare.

  • Research the companies: Nothing impresses an employer more than a candidate who can demonstrate industry knowledge and is aware of a company’s goals and role in that industry.
  •  Make sure your computer and Internet connectivity is working well. You want them focused on you and not your flaky internet or freezing laptop.
  •  Dress for success, not an afternoon at the beach.  Dressing appropriately in business attire helps put you in the right frame of mind for talking with potential employers.
  • Consider your surroundings. Although you could attend a virtual event from anywhere, a quiet room or home office makes a much better choice than the local donut shop or Starbucks.
  • Remember to look at the camera not the interviewer on the screen. While it seems quite natural to look at the persons face on the screen, you  have to remember that they can only see what the camera can see and that seeing the top of your head and not your eyes and expressions is unprofessional and signals that you don’t understand the technology.

Employers

1. Attending or hosting a traditional job fair takes time and coordination. You have to reserve a physical location, have printed hand-outs and setup a physical booth with corporate branding. But with a virtual job fair, your booth is a web page created by us, your hand-outs are PDF downloads and all of the candidate’s information, resumes and job applications are all electronic.
2. A Virtual Job Fair by its very nature expands your potential pool of candidates, as you are no longer limited to those that can physically travel to a traditional job fair location but rather anyone in the geographic area or even international.
3. Once logged into the virtual job fair site, you will have access to the candidate profiles that include their resume, experience and skills, awards and educations levels.
4. Your online chat session with candidates are documented and available for download by your staff.
5. We provide statistics on the number of booth visits, the number of electronic downloads and details of job applications and the candidates at the end of the event.

There are a few things you will need to do at least 3 days before the actual event.

  • After completing your initial registration as an Employer on the site, you should update your Employer Profile with your company logo, company information, and any multimedia photos or corporate videos you would like presented to candidates and registered visitors.
  • Assign a minimum of two staff to be available for Live Chat and / or Zoom Meetings on the day of the live job fair event.
  • Prepare and submit your job postings using the “Post A Job” interface on the virtual job fair website.
  • Prepare any handouts or promotional material you wish to have available for download in your booth. Documents should be pdf format and can be sent to our Setup Team.
